01/08/08 I wanted to give my eldest lad Callum a similar experience to that which my father gave me at his age, a visit to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit to sit under the trees and watch the skill and aggression by which the drivers tame there mounts. It was the colour, the smell and the excitement of the big events that would eventually lead me to become a Motorcycle Race Marshal. Callum came away with a smile on this face which was still there when he went to bed. Needless to say I managed to take a few photographs as well.

04/08/08 I have just come home from three days of Marshalling World Superbikes at Brands Hatch , an enjoyable weekend in the company of my friends and fellow Marshals. Sadly race day was marred by the terrible accident at Clark Curve which claimed the life of Craig Jones. Craig at the age of 23 was a very promising rider who was achieving great things and despite his age he had been racing on the world stage for the last few years.

Our thoughts go to Craig's family and friends at this difficult time. Also a thought to the marshals and medics who attended the incident, sometimes the sport we love can have a cruel side.
